GhorNirman ("the app", "we", "us") is a marketplace app that helps buyers find construction material sellers and mistris (masons and carpenters) in Assam, and helps sellers and mistris list themselves for buyers to find. This policy explains what information the app collects and how it is used.
Phone number. Buyers can use the app without signing in. When a seller or mistri signs up or logs in, we collect their phone number and verify it using a one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS. This verification is handled by Firebase Authentication, a service provided by Google. We use your phone number to:
District selection. Sellers and mistris choose the district where they operate, so buyers can browse and search for them by area. Buyers choose one or more districts to browse listings relevant to them.
Location (optional). The app uses your device's location only when you tap a location button, and only while the app is open. It never tracks your location in the background.
You can refuse or later turn off location permission for GhorNirman in your phone's settings. Everything except distance features keeps working.
Shop and listing information. If you register as a seller or mistri, we collect the information you choose to provide about your shop or your services (such as shop name, items for sale and their prices, or the type of skilled work you offer), so that this information can be shown to buyers.
Photos. If you upload photos (for example, of your shop or of items you sell), those photos are stored so they can be shown to buyers. Sellers and mistris can also add an optional profile photo, such as a photo of their shop front or of themselves, taken with the phone's camera or chosen from its gallery. The app only uses the camera or gallery when you choose to add a photo. A profile photo is shown to buyers with your listing once it is approved, and you can change or remove it at any time from your profile; a removed or replaced photo is deleted from our storage.
App usage information (analytics). We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, so we can see which features help people and fix what doesn't work. The app records events such as: a material or mistri search being opened (with the category or skill type and how many districts were chosen), a price comparison being opened (with the item name), the "Near me" button or a distance filter being used, a Call, WhatsApp or Place order button being tapped, an order being sent, the WhatsApp message language being changed, and a seller or mistri saving their location. These events do not include your name, phone number, or location coordinates. Like most apps using this service, Google Analytics also automatically collects basic technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, an app-specific identifier, and an approximate region derived from your internet connection. We do not collect your device's advertising ID, and this data is not used for advertising. Analytics data is kept by Google Analytics for no longer than 14 months and is then deleted automatically.
Orders you place. When you use "Place order", the app opens WhatsApp with your order written out for the shop, and you decide whether to send it. The app also saves a record of the order request: the shop, the item, the quantity, the price shown, which screen it came from, the message language and the time. This record does not include your name, phone number or location; the optional name and delivery place you type go only into the WhatsApp message. Order records are seen only by the GhorNirman team and are used to count orders and improve the app. The message language you choose is saved only on your phone.
We use the information above only to operate and improve the core functions of the app: letting buyers find and compare sellers/mistris, showing how far they are, and letting buyers contact them directly. We do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.
If you register as a seller or mistri, your shop/listing details, phone number, and (if you set them) your profile photo and saved location become visible to buyers using the app once your account is approved, since the purpose of registering is to be found and contacted by buyers. Buyers do not sign in, so the app does not collect or show any buyer's name or phone number. Usage analytics are seen only by the GhorNirman team, in aggregate.
App data is stored using Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Storage), which are Google Cloud services. Seller and mistri data is retained for as long as the account is active. Analytics data is handled by Google Analytics for Firebase and deleted automatically as described above.
You can stop using the app at any time. Location is optional: you can decline the permission, and sellers and mistris can simply not set a location. If you would like your account and associated data (including any saved location) deleted, contact us using the email below and we will remove it. See also our account deletion page.
GhorNirman is intended for adult buyers, sellers, and tradespeople conducting business, and is not directed at children.
